Alum Success

"I chose to transfer to Lake Superior State University because of the personal attention I would receive. I did not want to attend a large university where I would be a number lost in the masses. The well-rounded curriculum allowed me to obtain my position at John Deere. Having a good balance of theory and hands-on knowledge is critical for my position and Lake State gave me a good foundation in these skills."

Community Involvement

The Sault SmartZone was established in order to foster collaborations between industry and the university aimed at the commercialization of research. It is supported by LSSU and officials from the City of Sault Ste. Marie. Eric Becks was recently named the president and CEO of the Sault SmartZone.

Renewable Energy

Dr. Ron DeLap has been awarded a grant for the installation of a small solar system and wind turbine on the CAS building. The systems will be highly visible to students and the community, and will serve as educational instruments in the School's degree programs. This is one of several steps being taken to become more involved in renewable energy education.

Entrepreneurial Opportunities

Through the Prototype Development Center (PDC), many students have the opportunity to work on entrepreneurial projects during their undergraduate education. Past projects include work for larger companies such as Energizer as well as innovative product ideas from local entrepreneurs.
