Science Camp for Kids

 

Hands-on fun indoors and outdoors: Learn about bugs, birds, mammals, fish, rocks, weather, planet earth, motion, energy, habitats, conservation and much more. You'll observe animals in their natural habitats and learn how animals and plants work by using microscopes, computer programs, dissections and other science techniques.

  • Session III: Students Entering Grades 4-5, July 27-30
  • Session IV: Students Entering Grades 2-4, August 3-6

Time: 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m., Monday-Thursday

Where: Meet in the main lobby of Crawford Hall at LSSU

Cost: $110 USD

NOTE: Registration must be accompanied by a $110 camp fee (in U.S. funds). Fee includes lunch. Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until the program is full. No refunds will be given due to late arrival or early departure. Your full registration fee will be returned if the program is already full by the time we receive your registration. Make checks payable to: Lake Superior State University. The Lake Superior State University Summer Science Camp for Kids reserves the right to cancel reservations if fees are not paid as required.

Students check-in at Crawford Hall lobby from 8:30-9:00 a.m. on the first day of the session.

LSSU's dedicated three-story fire lab made all the difference to Brian Applegate.

"Our certification training classes offered real situations," Brian says. Students practice victim search techniques while controlling and extinguishing fires. Applegate says his favorite exercise was the live fire flashover simulation. "We saw how fires evolved as they burned," he says. "It’s as close as you can get to the real thing."
